About this symbol
The total amount that can ever exist is capped at 21 million BTC. The block subsidy started at 50 BTC. It is cut in half every 210,000 blocks, which occurs approximately every four years.
Sources: Bitcoin Core (MIT licence), trade[XYZ] (contract issuer).
Taproot under BIP-341 activated at block 709,632, with a threshold of 1,815 blocks out of 2,016. The COIN constant in amount.h is 100,000,000, and amounts are stored in that unit. Perpetual futures allow maximum leverage of 40 times, falling to 20 times when notional value exceeds 150,000,000 USDC. Frequently asked questions
Is this a spot price?
No. It is a reference value for a perpetual futures contract handled on Hyperliquid’s main dex.
Why does it move 24 hours a day?
The underlying asset has no trading-session hours. Unlike equities and indices, it does not switch to an internal price.
Where do the supply figures come from?
The BTC figure is a constant in the implementation’s source code. The HYPE figure is from a timestamped API response, and its time is stated in the text.
Why does the contract come from a different source than the other symbols?
Cryptoasset contracts are handled on the main dex, a different venue from contracts for equities, indices, and commodities.
