Four earnings nights compared with one-second records

  1. The NVDA, MRVL, DELL and AVGO earnings nights were stored under one calculation rule, with one-second records around each event.
  2. The first stored value beyond ±1% came before the SEC acceptance time for all four companies. The difference from acceptance runs from -17.9 seconds (NVDA) to -779.8 seconds (AVGO).
  3. Sixty minutes after acceptance, the changes from the 4:00 p.m. ET anchor ran from DELL +8.24% to MRVL -2.77%.

  1. Each row uses stored mark prices, a company-specific 4:00 p.m. ET anchor and the EDGAR acceptance clock.
  2. The first stored value beyond ±1% is earlier than the SEC acceptance time for all four symbols, by 17.9 seconds for NVDA and by 779.8 seconds for AVGO.
  3. The sign and size differ by company and by checkpoint; the table reports the stored comparisons without assigning a reason.
  4. The stored ranges run from 7.97 percentage points for NVDA to 11.11 points for DELL.
  5. Within the 1.5-second gap limit, the largest adjacent change remains below ±1% for every company.
  6. The table reports actual stored coverage; it does not describe a gap-free every-second series.
  7. At 8:00 p.m. ET the changes from each anchor are DELL +7.91%, NVDA +4.75%, AVGO -1.00% and MRVL -7.77%.

  4. AVGO: first ±1% 4:13:04 p.m. → accepted 4:26:04 p.m.-779.8 seconds

The right edge is the SEC 8-K acceptance time. Each value is the first ±1% stored timestamp minus the SEC acceptance timestamp; a negative value is before acceptance. Acceptance is the EDGAR receipt clock, not a measurement of the first publication second.

The four subjects are NVIDIA, Marvell, Dell Technologies and Broadcom. Their stored symbols are xyz:NVDA, xyz:MRVL, xyz:DELL and xyz:AVGO. The xyz: prefix names the exchange group in the data source.

The comparison uses the same price field and the same arithmetic for every company. It preserves missing intervals as missing intervals.

What was measured

Measurement basis

Every table in this article covers the same four event dates, 26 August to 2 September 2026. Clock times are U.S. Eastern Time (ET).

The price used is the mark price of each perpetual future. Each anchor is the final stored value at or before 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time on that company's event date.

The stored observations use two target intervals. The shorter window targets one second; the wider window targets 30 seconds.

Percentage change is calculated against each company's own anchor. The price levels themselves are not compared across companies.

The SEC time is the EDGAR acceptance clock for an 8-K containing Item 2.02. It is not a measurement of the moment a company first published its results.

The acceptance times are U.S. Eastern Time, matching the Accepted field on each 8-K index page. The SEC submissions JSON records the same instants in UTC (trailing Z), four hours ahead of each ET value.

Each row uses stored mark prices, a company-specific 4:00 p.m. ET anchor and the EDGAR acceptance clock.

First stored value beyond ±1%

The first qualifying row is the first stored value after 4:00 p.m. ET whose absolute change from the anchor is greater than 1%.

AVGO4:26:04 p.m.-779.8 seconds

“Difference” is the first ±1% stored timestamp minus the SEC acceptance timestamp.

Neither timestamp establishes the company's first publication second. The stored logs and the EDGAR receipt clock measure different things.

The first stored value beyond ±1% is earlier than the SEC acceptance time for all four symbols, by 17.9 seconds for NVDA and by 779.8 seconds for AVGO.

The same eight checkpoints as the two tables above. The horizontal axis places the eight checkpoints at equal spacing and is not proportional to elapsed time. The numbers mark the acceptance-time and 60-minute values.

The 8:00 p.m. row uses the wider 30-second series. The other rows use the one-second-target series.

The NVDA value in the “Acceptance time” row is the stored row at 4:21:18 p.m. ET ($207.15, -1.17%), the latest row at or before the acceptance time of 4:21:19 p.m. ET. The next stored row, 0.078 seconds after the acceptance time, is $206.95 (-1.26%). The NVDA article lists both rows.

At acceptance, MRVL and DELL are positive against their anchors, while NVDA and AVGO are negative. At 60 minutes, NVDA, DELL and AVGO are positive, while MRVL is negative.

The sign and size differ by company and by checkpoint; the table reports the stored comparisons without assigning a reason.

The same lows, highs and ranges as the three tables above. The left end of each bar is the low and the right end is the high, both as a change from the anchor; the dashed line is the anchor at 0%.

The range uses unrounded percentages. The percentages shown in parentheses are rounded to two decimal places. “Stored first” names whichever of the high or the low has the earlier stored time.

For AVGO, the unrounded calculation is 9.58 points; the displayed +2.75% and -6.84% differ by 9.59 points.

MRVL records its high before its low; the other three record their low before their high.

The stored ranges run from 7.97 percentage points for NVDA to 11.11 points for DELL.

“Adjacent” means two consecutive stored rows. It does not mean that the series contains every second.

The largest adjacent change without a gap limit is DELL's -1.85% across 21.0 seconds. That interval is not labelled as a one-second change.

Within the 1.5-second gap limit, the largest adjacent change remains below ±1% for every company.

Record counts and missing intervals

Stored rows — four companies, 26 August to 2 September 2026 ET

The recording targeted a one-second interval. Delays in the data-source responses sometimes lengthened that interval, and no missing value was created.

The counts of rows failing the timestamp and price format checks are NVDA 0, MRVL 0, DELL 0 and AVGO 0. Missing intervals remain unfilled.

The table reports actual stored coverage; it does not describe a gap-free every-second series.

Change log

2026-09-30: Split the folded tables into narrow-width units, added two charts and added the 60-minute changes from anchor to the opening summary.

2026-09-30: Put the differences from acceptance in the opening summary, added a chart and folded the long tables. No figure was changed.

2026-09-29: Stated the ET basis of the acceptance times, defined the difference column and added the AVGO rounding note.

Common questions

Are these the four companies' share prices?

No. They are mark prices of perpetual futures. They can differ from cash-market and official extended-hours share prices.

Is the SEC acceptance time the announcement time?

No. It is the time EDGAR accepted the filing. It does not establish the first publication second.

Were missing seconds filled?

No. The calculation uses stored rows only. A target checkpoint takes the final stored row at or before that checkpoint.

Why is the NVDA anchor stored at 3:59:41 p.m. and the others at 3:59:59 p.m.?

The anchor is the final stored value at or before 4:00 p.m. ET across the one-second-target and 30-second series. The NVDA one-second-target series begins at about 4:05 p.m. ET, so its anchor is a 30-second-series row. The other three one-second-target series begin at about 3:55 p.m. ET.

Why is the MRVL anchor different from the earlier Japanese NVDA and MRVL record?

The extraction rule differs. That Japanese-language record uses the final 30-second-log value, $241.52. This comparison uses the final value across the merged stored series, $241.40.

Does the table explain why the values changed?

No. It reports timestamps, values and comparison bases only.

Summary

  • The first ±1% timestamp and SEC acceptance timestamp appear in separate columns for each symbol.
  • At 60 minutes after acceptance, the changes from anchor are DELL +8.24%, NVDA +3.80%, AVGO +1.10% and MRVL -2.77%.
  • The four-hour stored ranges run from 7.97 percentage points for NVDA to 11.11 points for DELL.
  • The one-second-target logs contain gaps, and no value was interpolated.

The current reference values appear on the NVDA, MRVL, DELL and AVGO symbol pages.

The NVDA night also has its own article: the night NVIDIA reported, measured second by second. That article covers NVDA and MRVL.

SEC acceptance timestamps come from the four 8-K index pages: NVDA, MRVL, DELL and AVGO.

This article documents a measurement. It does not recommend any particular trade.

At 8:00 p.m. ET the changes from each anchor are DELL +7.91%, NVDA +4.75%, AVGO -1.00% and MRVL -7.77%.
